His foul breath was hot on my neck, with the last of my strength I pushed
him off of me and kicked as hard as I could. The blow hit its mark and he
tumbled back. I scrambled to my feet, and picked up my sword. He screamed
in rage and tried to jump on my back, but instantly I wheeled around and
impaled him on my sword. He was vanquished finally. This was a hard one.
Not that I doubt my abilities its just seemed harder lately less rewarding.
I shook his body off my sword and sheethed it.
I made my way to the castle which still looked dark and menacing. I sighed
loudly. I remember when I would slay the enemy and the clouds would part,
sunshine would spill through the valley, laughing children would greet
unicorns trotting about, little glittery fairies would buzz around my head,
Kings and Queens would greet me with banquets and flowers and such.
The kind of thing a conquering hero expects.
Now as I walk over the lowered draw bridge I am greeted by the sight of a
fierce battle between some sort of high ranking officials. They are fighting
over the crown of course. Lately, they always fight over the crown. I looked
into the corner and saw the princess about to have her virtue taken by
another man. I slice through the necks of the two battling men and pick up
the half buried crown. And make my way to the corner and run my sword
through the third man.
The princess stands up looking somewhat dissappointed but then puts on a
happy face and jumps upon me wrapping her legs around my waist. She offers
me her maidenhead as prize for my conquering. I pull her off of me,
plopping her onto the throne and placing the crown on her head.
"You are the Queen now." I say roughly "Act like it."
She gives me an uncouth, womanly gaze.
Oh well, you can't make friends with everyone. I bend down and pick up a
bag of gold coins off of one of the decapitated men and saunter out of the
castle, adjusting my red cape hoping that it is blowing dramatically in the
breeze. I leap onto my large stallion and try to determine which way the
sun will be setting so that I can ride off into it.
This isn't an easy life but I do it because a man's got to make a living,
because who else will, because the people need a hero, and because I am the
White Knight. This is my job.
